The simulation of the running of an optometric office through the use of computers is described. The addition of class speakers, visits to optometric practices, and instruction in elementary aspects of the use of computers in office settings has been well received by the students. (MLW)

Results of an evaluation of computer assisted instruction in a school of allied health technologies is reported. Because a number of vision conditions have psychological components and some psychological conditions may be complicated by vision difficulties, interdisciplinary cooperation between clinical psychology and optometry should prove fruitful for the diagnosis, treatment, and management of health problems. The Ohio Valley Appalachia Regional Geriatric Education Center tested a proficiency assessment tool with 779 previous workshop participants (27 percent responded). The instrument successfully identified 10 of 27 predictors of attendance at a geriatrics workshop. (SK)
