Organized labor's experience in Akron's career education program indicates that cooperative efforts are possible in educational programs with an effective labor committee, but that strong labor participation is necessary for even limited success. (MF)

Problems addressed in the last eight years include faculty evaluation, tenure, administrative problems, curriculum development, minority needs, career awareness, and educational finance. In response to the concerns of the consumer movement, the Department of Labor (DOL) is instituting new procedures and improving existing ones to draw its clients more fully into the policy-setting and decision-making process.
