Natural observations of 15- to 20-month-old nursery school children showed that children exhibited more social behaviors involving seven categories of contact (smiling, going towards, speaking to, etc.) after eating together around a communal table than before, and showed less aggressive behvior. Assessed the relative importance of external status and previous conformity in groups' evaluations of deviant behavior.
