In a survey of 54 personnel/human resource directors, 8 trainers, and 16 managers in Texas manufacturing firms, 34% forecast a decrease in hiring of high school graduates. Most-desired skill categories were group interaction, employability, and personal development, not communication and computation. (SK)

Interviews with 20 hospitality graduates with mild disabilities indicated that 90% found employment, but only 45% net an income above the poverty line. Most still hold entry-level jobs and none has completed apprenticeship or traineeship. Most remain motivated to make successful transitions to adult life. (SK)
