The study examined the effectiveness of a procedure for teaching parents of four mildly retarded children (8-10 years old) to be home reading tutors and generalization of the skills to school. Analysis of four scores for 32 young handicapped children on the Learning Accomplishment Profile-Diagnostic Edition and on the Development Profile, found that all data sources were highly correlated on their estimates. Examined attitudes about maternal roles and maternal employment in 317 mothers who were administered questionnaires after the births of their first babies and three months later. Results showed increased preference for staying home with the infants (vs. taking outside employment), even though 66 percent planned to return to work. (JAC)
