Teachers can give their non-English-speaking children the extra help they need by using a set of students (buddies) who can help the new student with vocabulary, reading, writing, spelling, and listening skills. A Macomb County, Michigan, school district trained a cadre of local teachers to lead stress reduction workshops at individual schools. The program's effects at several schools are described, along with suggestions for using the "training of trainers" approach with other topics in education. (PP)

Trained peer leaders served as teachers and resource personnel for a high school smoking reduction clinic. Procedures for behavioral self-control were emphasized. Means of selecting and training peer leaders, programs presented at the clinic, and a summary of the results are given. (PP)
