This study considered the relationship of the AACH Scale of the Strong Vocational Interest Blank (SVIB) to the attrition of a sample of college students from one institution. Results indicate that AACH scores accumulated over a five year period did not differentiate between college students who later graduated and those who did not. (Author)

The present study explored a method of altering the reinforcing properties of the verbal event good in chronic, process, nonparanoid schizophrenics. Four professional observers watched videotapes of the behavior of ex-mental patients (N=20 each). Their recordings showed that the observers were sensitive to any atypical behavior on the part of patients with whom they were familiar. To examine the number of subjective age categories in the post-high school portion of the American lifecycle, adult respondents sorted cards describing people in terms of major life events and classified them according to age. Older men and women (N=3630) were examined for sex differences in selected social and psychological characteristics. Compared to older men, older women were found to be as work-oriented and more likely to take a long time adjusting to retirement. Older women were more likely to report "negative" psychological symptoms. (Author)

This study constitutes an effort to apply to females the role-theoretical orientation to work and retirement in old age which has often been applied to men.
