American college students (N=77) enrolled in a semester-at-sea program rated four target groups before and after exposure in their own national settings, on a rating instrument designed to discriminate between descriptive and evaluative judgments in stereotyping. "Awareness" of drugs among rural elementary school students (N=53) was studied with a word-association test of drug slang and words with no drug connotations given to students randomly selected from each of the six grades. Data were collected to study the trends of 25 Chicano male ex-offenders in higher education. As the trends were analyzed and evaluated, it became evident that the results could be applied to most ex-offenders. Most students planned to obtain a bachelor's degree and go on for graduate study.
