Investigated changes in how people like themselves and their partners after working together. Findings from eight male pairs and eight female pairs revealed that competitors liked themselves and their partners less than non-competitors (p<.01). This study found that use of music as a reinforcer was highly effective in increasing productive and decreasing nonproductive behavior of 6 competitive swimmers (ages 12-16) during the dry-land portion of a practice session.
