A self-instruction manual to develop a production supervisory strategy (PSS) was examined as an aid for supervisors of 80 retarded persons in sheltered work settings. Average hourly production increased for 77 clients under PSS compared to baseline, with an average increase of 68 percent. Error rates were not affected. (Author/CL)

Among findings of surveys on general capabilities for contract work completed by 737 sheltered workshops were that electronic/electrical assembly and wood pallet manufacture were the most common products; collating and mailing the most common service contracts; and bagging /packaging and assembly the most predominant hand operations.
