Institutions offering training in this veterinary medicine speciality are listed, and a cooperative program between the veterinary school at Washington State University and the medical school at the University of Washington is described. The School of Veterinary Medicine at Tuskegee Institute was established to serve the educational needs of Blacks in this profession, and represented the beginning of the third phase in the evolution of veterinary medical education in this country. A survey of 39 West Virginia teachers of the severely handicapped found that 33% of placements were in segregated schools, 33% were in separate sites associated with regular education facilities, and 33% were within regular education locations.
