The validity of the Vocational Adaptation Rating Scale (VARS) for predicting placement of 125 mentally retarded workers in sheltered workshop settings was investigated. Results indicated low to moderate significant partial correlations with concurrent placement and one year follow-up placement (controlling IQ, age, and sex). (Author)

The level of youth unemployment in our country is continually increasing. This article suggests measures that can be taken by educators to remedy this problem for those currently unemployed, as well as recommends preventative measures to curb the problem on a long-range scale. (CT)

Compared the Job Club method with an alternative method, using clients who had job-finding problems, such as physical, emotional, intellectual, and social handicaps, or long-term unemployment. Results suggest that virtually all handicapped or "hard-core" unemployed persons can obtain and retain a job under an intensive Job Club program.…
