Mestre, Jose P.; And Others – Journal of Research in Science Teaching, 1982
Investigated performance of Hispanic science and engineering students (N=43) on reading a sentence describing the mathematical relationship between two variables and writing an equation describing the relationship. Results compared with (1) subjects' grade point average and language proficiency and (2) monolingual group (N=52). (Author/SK)

Trusz, Andrew R.; Parks-Trusz, Sandra L. – Educational Studies, 1981

Molfese, Victoria J.; And Others – International Journal of Aging and Human Development, 1981
Investigated the influence of methodological variables on the performance of older adults. The more distracting home setting required more attention cues to maintain partner attention than the laboratory setting. (Author/JAC)

Frase, Lawrence T.; Schwartz, Barry J. – Journal of Educational Psychology, 1979
In five experiments, adults verified sentences by reading complex information in several technical passages. Both segmenting and indenting influenced performance; however, once a text had been meaningfully segmented, the addition of indentation cues did not affect response time. Implications for typographic design--line length and margins--are…

Murphy, Catherine M.; Wood, David J. – Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, 1981
Using information contained in nine photographs, young children constructed a wooden pyramid. Control children were given the same task but no pictorial information. Children's performances were significantly better when pictorial information was available. Sex and age differences were noted regarding strategies used to complete the task.…

Lally, M.; Nettlebeck, T. – American Journal of Mental Deficiency, 1980
In the first of two experiments, 20 retarded young adults were compared on a simple discrimination task with 10 nonretarded students of the same CA.
