Gajar, Anna Helen; Hale, Robert L. – Journal of Psychology, 1982
The factor structure of the Quay-Peterson Behavior Problem Checklist was investigated across racial backgrounds of 358 American children in order to determine the instrument's efficacy in measuring personality dimensions in racially different exceptional children. (Author/MP)
Descriptors: Behavior Problems, Blacks, Children, Exceptional Persons

Teleki, Jane K.; And Others – Journal of Psychology, 1982
Results are reported from a factor analytic investigation of responses to the Child's Report of Parental Behavior Inventory by comparable samples of children living in divorced and married families. (MP)

Norton, Robert – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1983
Examines the operationalization of marital quality indices used as dependent variables and the functioning and construction of marital quality variables. Presents both semantic and empirical criteria to judge the development of a marital quality index and a Quality Marriage Index (QMI) based on the introduced criteria. (Author/RC)
Descriptors: Factor Analysis, Marriage, Measures (Individuals), Spouses

Parcel, Toby L.; Mueller, Charles W. – Work and Occupations: An International Sociological Journal, 1983
Uses factor analysis of occupational skill characteristics to derive cognitive and noncognitive dimensions of occupational differentiation. The dimensions are discussed in relation to occupational labor theories. Regression analyses of these dimensions suggest that complexity is the most important determinant of socioeconomic status and prestige.…

Loo, Robert – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1982
The structure of the Group Embedded-Figures Test was examined. Data from 173 females and 93 males were subjected to Johnson's complete-linkage cluster analysis and principal components analysis. The results showed the importance of simple form type, especially Form E, the cube, and of item position. (Author/RD)

Willson, Victor L. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1982
The Serlin-Kaiser procedure is used to complete a principal components solution for scoring weights for all options of a given item. Coefficient alpha is maximized for a given multiple choice test. (Author/GK)

Moracco, John; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1982
The factorial validity of the Teacher Occupational Stress Factor Questionnaire was determined. Results provided partial support for the construct validity of the instrument. Item rearrangement resulted in changing the composition of three of the five factors; this was thought to provide data for investigating teacher stress. (Author/GK)

Jones, Enrico E. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1980
Assessed psychotherapy outcome for 177 patients who were seen for an average of 31 therapy hours with the rating scales for outcome of therapy and a therapist questionnaire. Results of a components analysis did not support Storrow's rationale groupings of the rating scales into five dimensions. (Author)

Vernon, Philip A. – Intelligence, 1981
Mildly retarded young adults were given simple and choice reaction time (RT) tests. Subjects' RTs increased with stimulus complexity. RTs of retarded subjects were slower and evidenced more intraindividual variability than those of nonretarded subjects. Several RT parameters were related to measures of intelligence. (Author/RD)

Bentler, Peter M.; Weeks, David G. – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1979
Factor analysis in several populations, covariance structure models, three-mode factor analysis, structural equations systems with measurement model, and analysis of covariance with measurement model are all shown to be specializations of a general moment structure model. Some new structured linear models are also described. (Author/CTM)

Weinrott, Mark R.; And Others – Journal of Educational Psychology, 1981
A secondary analysis was conducted to test the validity of five behaviors from five classroom observation systems: approves/praises; asks questions; criticizes/disapproves; gives directions; and presents facts or judgments. Scores for each were intercorrelated and arranged in a multitrait-multimethod matrix. Evidence was found of construct…

Klein, Alice E. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1980
A factor analysis of eight subtest scores and three subtotal scores of the Comprehensive Tests of Basic Skills (CTBS) Forms showed one common factor, and did not lend support to the usefulness of subtotal scores or subtest scores. (Author/GK)
Descriptors: Academic Achievement, Factor Analysis, Grade 4, Grade 6

Watkins, David; Hattie, John – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1980
Results of an Australian study of the Biggs Study Process Questionnaire (SPQ) are presented. The purposes of the research were to: (1) re-examine the SPQ's internal consistency; (2) explore dimensionality of the SPQ scales; and (3) investigate validity of Bigg's model of the study process complex through factor analysis. Sirois, Herman A.; Gable, Robert K. – Education, 1979
It was found that the Blumberg-Amidon instrument, which was administered to 31 randomly selected in-service teachers, grades K-12, is a two-factor or two-scale measure (Relationships, Productivity) which may also be interpreted as a one-scale measure (Productive Relationships), each with a high degree of reliability. Gully, Kevin J.; And Others – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1981
Subjects (n=216) reported observations of, or participation in, violence involving parents or siblings, and predicted their own violent behavior in hypothetical situations. Results indicated that recollections of familial violence are significant predictors of self- reported violence and of self-predicted violence in hypothetical situations.…
