Peer reviewedCummings, Anne L.; Murray, Harry G. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 1990
Examined psychometric properties, including factor structure, of the Index of Responding and assessed implications of that structure for counseling research. Index of Responding was used as measure of empathy with 70 elementary and secondary teachers enrolled in undergraduate program in guidance counseling. Factor analysis yielded one wide-loading…

Peer reviewedGuttman, Ruth; And Others – Applied Psychological Measurement, 1990
After a brief review of the contributions of factor analysis and regional analysis to the elaboration of the structures of spatial abilities, a facet design and regional model for spatial abilities are presented. A cylindrical-wedge model is proposed to represent the correlational structure of spatial ability tests. (SLD)

Peer reviewedRichardson, John T. E. – Studies in Higher Education, 1990
A shortened form of the Approaches to Studying Questionnaire (ASQ) was devised to measure individual college student differences in the domains of either meaning orientation or reproducing orientation. It achieves satisfactory levels of internal consistency and test-retest reliability (Author/MLW)

Peer reviewedOlson, R. K.; And Others – Reading and Writing: An Interdisciplinary Journal, 1991
Subjects measures of word recognition, phonological coding, and orthographic coding obtained from analyses of identical and fraternal twins to multivariate genetic analysis. Finds that genetic influences on individual differences in word recognition were more strongly related to genetic variance in phonological coding than in orthographic coding.…

Peer reviewedCox, Brian J.; And Others – Psychological Assessment, 1993
To study the distinction between self-reports of anxiety and depression, a factor analysis was conducted using responses of 298 anxiety disorder patients on the Beck Depression Inventory and the State Anxiety subscale of the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory. Results suggest that the two conditions can be reliably differentiated in self-reports. (SLD)

Studied job stress, job satisfaction, and coping strategies through self-report measures from 153 Moroccan high school teachers. Results show that 45% of the teachers were satisfied with their jobs, but over half reported high levels of stress, negatively correlated with job satisfaction. Factor analysis of 16 coping strategies produced four…
