The Endler S-R Inventory of General Trait Anxiousness was analyzed employing Smallest Space Analysis (SSA) and factor analysis. The SSA yielded a two-dimensional lattice partitioning the space into regions corresponding to the situations specified in the inventory. The Survey of Reading Attitudes-Primary Level was administered orally to 269 first-grade, 240 second-grade, and 236 third-grade students. The responses were factored separately by grade using a principal factor method with varimax rotation. A factor analysis of a revised and expanded 102-item version of the Children's Behavior Scale (CBRS) was conducted to complete development of this teacher rating scale. The Mathematics Attribution Scale-Algebra (MAS) was designed to assess attributions to ability, effort, task, and environment for success or failure in algebra. Factor analyses of responses to the Self-Description Questionnaire (SDQ) by children in grades two to five clearly identified the seven SDQ factors, and correlations among these factors were consistent with Shavelson's model. Three numerical coefficients for analyzing the validity and reliability of ratings are described. Each coefficient is computed as the ratio of an obtained to a maximum sum of differences in ratings. Measures of six cognitive styles, six abilities, and 12 aptitudes were administered to 20l Navy recruits. Relationships among all cognitive attributes and between sets of styles and aptitudes were examined. Results indicated that many styles are significantly related to abilities and aptitudes. Six methods of measuring factorial similarity were compared with regard to outcome based on two large data sets, one for an intelligence test and the other for a personality test.
