Screening of 288 youths entering the juvenile justice system revealed that approximately 18 percent were gifted in some way. Gifted Ss differed from normal youth by having high abilities in fluid intelligence yet performed less well on the achievement test in relation to these high fluid abilities. (CL)

Compared scores on the Career Maturity Inventory (CMI) and the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS) for disadvantaged youngsters (N=120). Results suggested that professionals using the CMI should use caution when working with disadvantaged youngsters since there is such a strong relationship to intelligence, as measured by the WAIS.
