Conger, Anthony J.; Conger, Judith Cohen – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1975
Measures of multivariate reliability were calculated for profiles of Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC) subscales on three age groups. Profile dimensions based on reliability considerations were established and matched across age groups and with factor analytic dimensions. WISC was found to measure general ability and verbal and…

Gerken, Kathryn Clark; And Others – Psychology in the Schools, 1978
It was found that the General Cognitive Index scores of the McCarthy Scales correlated well with the Stanford-Binet IQ scores. However, 40 of the 44 subjects scored higher on the Stanford-Binet than on the McCarthy Scales. (Author)

Sattler, Jerome M.; And Others – Psychology in the Schools, 1978
Fabricated test protocols were used to study how effectively examiners agree in scoring ambiguous WISC-R responses. The results suggest that, even with the improved WISC-R manual, scoring remains a difficult and challenging task. (Author)

Detterman, Douglas K. – Intelligence, 1978
Cronbach, in 1957, supported the unification of two disciplines of scientific psychology--the correlational and experimental approaches. The remaining papers in this journal issue--which served as the basis for a 1978 American Educational Research Association Symposium--address this issue. (Author/RD)

Miller, Maurice; And Others – Journal of Learning Disabilities, 1978
In order to evaluate the effectiveness of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC) in discriminating auditory or visual deficits, 121 learning disabled children (mean age 100 months) were tested. (PHR)

Falbo, Toni – Journal of Population, 1978
A critical review. Evidence supporting the sibling-tutoring explanation is evaluated and alternatives are presented. Dresher, B. Elan; Horstein, Norbert – Cognition, 1977
The authors respond to Winograd's critique (TM 503 198) of their previous article on the contributions of artificial intelligence to the scientific study of language (EJ 161 384). Winograd's interpretations of the "Chomskian paradigm," and of statements made in Dresher and Hornstein's original paper, are challenged. (GDC)

Lombard, Thomas J.; Riedel, Robert G. – Psychology in the Schools, 1978
WISC-R was administered to 76 subjects from rural school districts referred to a consulting school psychologist for learning problems. Each subject's results on old and new color formats of Coding B subtest were compared. Results suggest possibility of a color enhancement effect, at least with students having learning problems. Rochner, Sandra – Psychology in the Schools, 1978
This report is a review of reliability data on the PPVT obtained from 32 research studies published between 1965 and 1974. For average children in the elementary grades, and for retarded people of all ages, PPVT scores remained relatively stable over time and there was close equivalence between alternate forms. (Author)

Douglas, J. E.; Sutton, A. – Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry and Allied Disciplines, 1978
A pair of severely speech delayed twin girls were separated and placed into parallel school classes where they were given language training with the aim of remediating the effects of their early deprivation. The acceleration in their linguistic ability was paralleled by a marked increase in intellectual functioning as measured by standardized…

Kirby, John R.; Das, J. P. – Journal of Educational Psychology, 1978
The simultaneous and successive processing model of cognitive abilities was compared to a traditional primary mental abilities model. Simultaneous processing was found to be primarily related to spatial ability; and to a lesser extent, to memory and inductive reasoning. Subjects were 104 fourth-grade urban males. (Author/GD C)
