A questionnaire survey of all students who discontinued their courses at the University of Sydney in 1973 identified four groups of such students. They are those who (1) had financial problems, (2) cited illness, (3) were not coping, and (4) had changed their life goals. The university's responsibility in dealing with them is considered. (LBH)

Students were asked for their reasons for not re-enrolling at the University of New South Wales. Of the 1216 students in this category 72 percent did not reply, but those who did indicated three motivating factors: the effect of the course or school on them as individuals; pressures of employment or distance; change in personal situation.
