Reports an analysis of the roles assigned to each sex in prose and photographs of general business textbooks. Results indicated that the textbooks did not provide equal treatment to both sexes, and suggested that the general business teacher needs to make efforts to counterbalance the impact of such sex biases on their students. Analysis of the items in 11 daily newspapers revealed that approximately 36 percent included some "mobilizing information"--information about ways readers might express their preferences and desires. This discussion of the failure to include many book reviews by indexes in selected subject fields and by several general indexes highlights the technique used to check review materials in selected magazines to see what was actually indexed, the policies of specific indexes, and the practical consequences for librarians.
