Kiers, Henk A. L. – Psychometrika, 1997
Provides a fully flexible approach for orthomax rotation of the core to simple structure with respect to three modes simultaneously. Computationally the approach relies on repeated orthomax rotation applied to supermatrices containing the frontal, lateral, or horizontal slabs, respectively. Exemplary analyses illustrate the procedure. (Author/SLD)

Schneeweiss, Hans – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1997
A sufficient condition in terms of the unique variances of a common factor model is given for the results of factor analysis to come closer to those of principal components analysis. In general, vectors corresponding to loading matrices can be related to each other by a specific measure of closeness, which is illustrated. (SLD)

Jennrich, Robert I. – Psychometrika, 2001
Identifies a general algorithm for orthogonal rotation and shows that when an algorithm parameter alpha is sufficiently large, the algorithm converges monotonically to a stationary point of the rotation criterion from any starting value. Introduces a modification that does not require a large alpha and discusses the use of this modification as a…

Lester, David – Death Studies, 2004
In a study of 144 college students, the factorial structure of the Collett?Lester Fear of Death Scale matched the face content of the subscales quite closely, ameliorating the criticism of the scale by R. A. Neimeyer et al. (2003).

Zhou, Xinyue; Xu, Qian; Ingles, Candido J.; Hidalgo, Maria D.; La Greca, Annette M. – Child Psychiatry and Human Development, 2008
This study evaluated the psychometric properties of the Chinese version of the Social Anxiety Scale for Adolescents (SAS-A) in a sample of 296 adolescents (49% boys) in Grades 7, 8, 9, 10, and 12 with a mean age of 15.52 years. Confirmatory factor analysis replicated the three-factor structure of the SAS-A in the Chinese sample: Fear of Negative…

Matson, Johnny L.; Gonzalez, Melissa L.; Rivet, Tessa T. – Research in Autism Spectrum Disorders, 2008
A considerable amount of attention has occurred with respect to the diagnosis and treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) of children and youth. Furthermore, the rationale for using the most restrictive of the applied behavior analysis methods and medication has been largely based on the presence of severe challenging behaviors such as…

Anderson, Walter P., Jr.; Lopez-Baez, Sandra I. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2008
The Posttraumatic Growth Inventory (PTGI; R. G. Tedeschi & L. G. Calhoun, 1996) was used to measure the growth of university students (N = 347). Results were compared with those of trauma studies and indicate that the PTGI is a general measure of growth suitable for future nontrauma studies. Results reflect a minimal relationship between…

Meganck, Reitske; Vanheule, Stijn; Desmet, Mattias – Assessment, 2008
The most widely used instrument to measure alexithymia is the 20-item Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20). However, different factor structures have been found in different languages. This study tests six published factor models and metric invariance across clinical and non-clinical samples. It also investigated whether there is a method effect of…

Worrell, Frank C.; Watson, Stevie – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 2008
In this study, the authors tested the viability of the expanded nigrescence (NT-E) model as operationalized by Cross Racial Identity Scale (CRIS) scores using confirmatory factor analyses. Participants were 594 Black college students from the Southeastern United States. Results indicated a good fit for NT-E's proposed six-factor structure.…
