Programs assisted by the Civil Rights Act, Title IV, were based on problems presumed to be the kind that transfer teachers would encounter. The most pressing problems selected from a forced-choice list centered around the words fear" and isolation." Recommendations for improvement of teacher training and orientation are suggested. (DM)

Rimland's Diagnostic Checklist for Behavior-Disturbed Children, Form E-2, a checklist method of diagnosing early infantile autism, is described and statistics cited to show Form E-2 effective in differentiating truly autistic from autistic-type children. (KW)

A panoramic view of college enrollment during the years 1919-70 is presented. Factors influencing enrollment, such as economic depression, world war, and Federal aid, are discussed. (CK)

This article reviews the housing situation in Washington, D.C., from 1954 to the present. Statistics show the intensity of White flight from the inner city to the suburbs from 1960 to 1970. The effects of the subsequent return of Whites to the inner city, a reverse trend beginning in 1975, are discussed. (MC)

If 1970-77 trends in academic salaries and the poverty level threshold persist, it is suggested, lower-ranking American academicians may expect to enter the ranks of the working poor in the eighties. Some evidence is presented and some options and alternatives are discussed. (MLW)

A study of 1980 medical school faculties, based on faculty statistics on the Faculty Roster System of the Association of American Medical Colleges, is discussed. Higher participation of women physicians on medical school faculties than male physicians relative to the numbers of each sex in graduating classes is reported. (Author/MLW)

Problems with the scope, validity, and accuracy of statistical data on Puerto Ricans have led to difficulties in research on that population. This situation has contributed to the restricted access of Puerto Ricans to government-sponsored programs and to public services, such as education, that are necessary for social equality.
