Office of Economic Opportunity, Washington, DC. Office of Planning, Research, and Evaluation. – 1972
This report describes briefly the experimental design and presents the basic contract provisions. The experiment results reveal that performance contracting is no more successful than traditional classroom methods in improving the reading and mathematics skills of poor children. Both control and experimental groups performed equally poorly in…

Barrows, Thomas S. – 1971
This speech discusses performance contracting as educational research, notes some evaluation problems, and proposes solutions to these problems. The term performance contracting, according to the report, denotes an administrative rather than an instructional innovation. The author observes that the understanding of instruction and learning derived…

Tedrick, William E. – 1972
The way in which agricultural scientists of the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station research staff pereive aspects of the uses and importance of the mass media in communicating their research work was surveyed. The profile developed from the 65 responses to the survey shows that agricultural scientists place only moderate importance on mass…

Goetz, Ernest T. – 1975
The recent deluge of published studies employing sentences or connected discourse as the unit of study has left unsolved the question of whether the two types of materials are essentially similar or importantly different. An understanding of this issue is crucial to theory, since the existence of major psychological differences between the…

Merrill, Glen L. – 1975
Results and conclusions to date of a program to design, erect, and test a 5,000-square-foot solar energy system are presented in this report. The program described demonstrates the ability of solar collectors to supplement the heating and hot water requirements of North View Junior High School in suburban Minneapolis. The report discusses in…

Stover, Robert V. – Teaching Political Science, 1976
Designed to assess the effects of self-grading on undergraduate learning and evaluation in a one semester constitutional law course, this study indicated that self-grading had no significant impact on learning but that it did encourage self-graders to evaluate themselves significantly higher than instructor graded students. (Author/DB)

Fraser, J. Alexander H.; Vitro, Frank T. – Canadian Counsellor, 1975
The purposes of the study were to determine the effects of relatively short term empathy training on prospective teacher's empathic abilities and self-concepts. The two experimental groups received empathy training. The findings indicated that empathy training resulted in increases in levels of empathic ability and changes in self-concept. (Author)
