Bronson, Gordon – Child Development, 1974
Behavioral studies of early visual development are interpreted within a framework provided by data from the neurosciences. Conclusions concerning the visual responses elicited during the first month of life and the more sophisticated reactions appearing during the second and third months of infancy are presented. (Author/SDH)

Ritter, David R.; Sabatino, David A. – Journal of School Psychology, 1974
First-grade children of average or above intelligence who did not evidence visual perceptual dysfunction were administered a series of visual perceptual tasks. Results indicated considerable method of measurement influence upon task performance. Implications of the results for both researchers and practitioners are discussed. (Author)

Mozer, Michael C. – 1983
Four experiments investigated the phenomenon of letter migration, the tendency of readers to assign letters from one word to another appearing in close proximity. The experiments, which involved college undergraduate students, revealed several properties of letter migration, including the following: (1) migrations are more frequent when the words…

Dry, Matthew; Lee, Michael D.; Vickers, Douglas; Hughes, Peter – Journal of Problem Solving, 2006
We investigated the properties of the distribution of human solution times for Traveling Salesperson Problems (TSPs) with increasing numbers of nodes. New experimental data are presented that measure solution times for carefully chosen representative problems with 10, 20, . . . 120 nodes. We compared the solution times predicted by the convex hull…

Pizlo, Zygmunt; Stefanov, Emil; Saalweachter, John; Li, Zheng; Haxhimusa, Yll; Kropatsch, Walter G. – Journal of Problem Solving, 2006
We tested human performance on the Euclidean Traveling Salesman Problem using problems with 6-50 cities. Results confirmed our earlier findings that: (a) the time of solving a problem is proportional to the number of cities, and (b) the solution error grows very slowly with the number of cities. We formulated a new version of a pyramid model. The…

Isseroff, Ami; And Others – Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1974
In the present study, and attempt was made to clarify whether right visual field superiority, in terms of shorter latencies to verbal material, transcends the directional scanning tendencies associated with the stimuli. (Author)

Lucas, Peter A.; Di Vesta, Francis J. – 1978
A computer-displayed 3-D tic-tac-toe game was used to investigate adult perceptual biases in dealing with diagonal line orientations. Also investigated was the interaction between prior spatial ability and the effects of explicit visual modeling and structured practice on performance. Results indicated a strong selective difficulty in dealing with…

Epstein, William, Ed. – 1977
The thirteen chapters in this collection provide a detailed examination of visual perception and visual constancy. After a first chapter providing an historical overview of the field, the 11 central chapters present reports on current research from leading investigators. A final chapter brings into focus a variety of methodological, empirical, and…
