Kaiser, Henry F.; Michael, William B. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1975
An alternative derivation of Tryon's basic formula for the coefficient of domain validity or the coefficient of generalizability developed by Cronbach, Rajaratnam, and Glaser is provided. This derivation, which is also the generalized Kuder-Richardson coefficient, requires a relatively minimal number of assumptions compared with that in previously…

KROPP, RUSSELL P.; AND OTHERS – 1966
THE BROAD PURPOSE OF THIS PROJECT WAS TO TEST EMPIRICALLY THE STRUCTURE OF THE HANDBOOK "TAXONOMY OF EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES 1--COGNITIVE DOMAIN." IT WAS NECESSARY TO CONSTRUCT FOUR FORMS OF A TAXONOMY-TYPE TEST SINCE NONE WAS AVAILABLE. THE PHENOMENA WHICH ARE CLASSIFIED BY THE "TAXONOMY" ARE THE RESPONSES (BEHAVIORS) WHICH…

STRICKER, LAWRENCE J. – 1967
TEST WISENESS ABILITIES ON PERSONALITY SCALES WERE MEASURED BY SPECIALLY DEVELOPED INSTRUMENTS. THE FOUR TEST-WISENESS VARIABLES WERE--(1) ESTIMATING DESIRABILITY (ACCURACY IN ESTIMATING THE DESIRABILITY OF PERSONALITY ITEMS), (2) ESTIMATING COMMUNALITY (ACCURACY IN ESTIMATING THE COMMUNALITY OF ITEMS), AND (3) ABILITY TO IDENTIFY ITEMS…

Robinson, Lora; Seligman, Richard – 1968
Items for a morale scale were selected from Pace's College and University Environment Scales (CUES). The initial morale scale of 55 items was reduced to 22 items without substantially changing the dimension being measured. The scale discriminates among the 100 colleges in Pace's national sample, and its reliability is acceptable. The items-scale…

Speakman, Haddon G. B. – 1974
In 1967, an investigation into the utility of the Youth Fitness Test for mentally retarded children found that only four of the seven items were suitable. The other three (pull-ups, sit-ups, and the 600-yard run/walk), were modified to establish the Special Fitness Test for the mentally retarded. This test, however, was used only with educable…

Collet, LeVerne S. – 1970
A critical review of systems of scoring multiple choice tests is presented and the superiority of a system based upon elimination method over one based upon the best answer mode is hypothesized. This is discussed in terms of the capacity of the mode to reveal the relationships among decoy options and the effects of partial information,…

Whalen, Thomas E. – 1971
Smith (1969) reported the results of an instrument for measuring teacher judgment of written composition. His test was first administered to a group of "experts" whose ratings were in high agreement. Then the test was given to a sample of over 200 teachers and lay readers. Among Smith's conclusions was that over half of the teachers have judgment…

Price, Lewis; Eliot, John – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1975
The multitrait-multimethod matrix technique was used to evaluate student responses to two tests of spatial orientation and visualization. The Eliot-Price tests met all criteria for convergent and discriminant validity. The Guilford-Zimmerman did not meet one of the criteria for discriminant validity. (Author/BJG)

Callender, John C.; Osburn, H. G. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1977
A FORTRAN program for maximizing and cross-validating split-half reliability coefficients is described. Externally computed arrays of item means and covariances are used as input for each of two samples. The user may select a number of subsets from the complete set of items for analysis in a single run. (Author/JKS)
