Examined the validity of a hand-scorable, mechanical procedure for deriving interpersonal maturity level (I-level) subtypes with a sample of serious delinquents (N=1,131). Results showed that 65 percent of the youths received a single classification, 34 percent a multiple (dual) classification, and one percent were unclassifiable. (BH)

Found the Multiple Affect Adjective Check List, the Anxiety, Depression and Hostility subscales to be intercorrelated in two independent studies (N=84), raising doubts about their validity as measures of separate affective states. Administered the Luscher Color Test and the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory to 42 counseling graduate students. Personality reports were written from test results, and the degree of agreement was rated. Results showed little agreement between the two, suggesting cautious use of the Color Test. (JAC)

Compared the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (Revised) (WISC-R) and the Leiter International Performance Scale with 40 average and above average students. Reevaluated findings for subtle items in the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory D Scale in 214 subjects based on the distinction between item subtlety and face validity. Assessed the impact of stress on 94 adolescents using a brief version of the Adolescent Life Change Event Scale (ALCES). Bracken, Bruce A. – Journal for the Education of the Gifted, 1983
The McCarthy Scales of Children's Abilities and the Stanford-Binet were compared as instruments for identifying and assessing intellectually gifted preschool and primary aged children. The McCarthy Scales consistently produced lower scores than the Binet. Low to moderate correlations existed between the two scales. (Author/CL)
