Sirois, Herman A.; Gable, Robert K. – 1977
An instrument, developed in 1965 by Arthur Blumberg and Edmund Amidon to measure teacher perceptions of supervisory conferences, has presented problems of reliability to researchers. The problem has stemmed from the lack of a valid and reliable scoring method for the instrument. The instrument was administered to 31 in-service teachers, Grades…

Ferber, Marianne A.; Lowry, Helen M. – Industrial and Labor Relations Review, 1976
Past studies demonstrating differences between male and female labor forces to explain women's lower earnings are challenged in the present study, which asked: (1) whether such differences explain the gap, (2) to what extent the differences themselves are caused by (cumulative) discrimination, and (3) whether circular reasoning produced past…

Shaffer, Phyllis; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1978
For a sample of 270 students who sought on their own initiative counseling on academic, career, vocational, and personal matters at a university counseling and testing center, intercorrelations of their responses to 20 statements on the Evaluation of Counselors Scale were factor-analyzed. Tables of results are presented and discussed. (Author/JKS)

Alumbaugh, Richard V.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1978
Three approaches to the prediction of juvenile recidivism--factor analysis, stepwise multiple regression, and stepwise discriminant analysis--are contrasted. Stepwise discriminant analysis provided the most consistent selection of variables in the data set used. Problems and advantages of the three approaches are discussed. (Author/JKS)

Braithwaite, John B.; Law, Henry G. – Applied Psychological Measurement, 1978
An analysis of self-report delinquency data using four non-metric procedures for structural analysis revealed support for the existence of a general delinquency factor. However, offenses of low seriousness and victimless offenses (drinking and drug-taking items) were only weakly related to this general factor. (Author/CTM)

Humphreys, Lloyd G.; Parsons, Charles K. – Applied Psychological Measurement, 1978
This study describes the development of a common factor model for a cross-lagged difference involving a measure of aural comprehension and an intellectual composite. The direction of the difference was that the Listening Test predicted the composite more accurately than the composite predicted the Listening Test. (Author/CTM)

Hewitson, Mal – Australian Journal of Education, 1978
The author challenges the assumption that feelings of satisfaction experienced as a result of decision-making involvement lead to increased satisfaction with teaching as a chosen career. He examines degree of teacher involvement, teacher's feelings of rapport with the principal, and teacher's satisfaction with teaching as a career. (Editor/RK)

Lorr, Maurice; Manning, Tracey T. – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1978
To determine the higher order factors defined by scales of the Interpersonal Style Inventory, data from two male samples and one female sample were separately analyzed. The five rotated factors established were highly similar across samples. (Author/JKS)

Zuckerman, Miron; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1977
A factor analysis of Rotter's internal-external locus of control scale is described. The four factors extracted were there correlated with several political attitude instruments. Results lead authors to suggest a modification in Rotter's scale, particularly in the "just world" items. (JKS)

Magidson, Jay – Evaluation Quarterly, 1977
Path analysis was used to reevaluate the analysis of covariance quasiexperimental study of the effectiveness of the Head Start program. Contrary to the original analysis, the alternative approach yields small positive estimates of effect. (Author/CTM)
