Miller, Maurice – Journal of Learning Disabilities, 1980
The author responds to rebuttals by F. Wallbrown et al. regarding criticisms of their research on Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Revised (WISC-R) profiles of reading disabled children. (SBH)

Silverstein, A. B. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1980
The intercorrelations among the 12 subtests of the WISC-R were analyzed for each of the 11 age groups in the standardization sample. Clusters were found that corresponded to the verbal and performance Scales. There was also some evidence of a third group of subtests, drawn from both scales. (Author/BW)

Naglieri, Jack A. – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1980
WISC-R subtest profiles were examined for 20 learning disabled and 20 mentally retarded children. The rank order of the WISC-R subtests supports the concept of distinct Patterns for these exceptional children. Correlations between the present samples' subtests patterns and previous findings are also reported. (Author)

Bachor, Dan G. – Journal of Special Education, 1979
Tests used to estimate mental abilities (measures of intelligence, perceptual motor ability, and early identification of learning disabilities) are critically examined. (Author)

Rincon, Erminia Lopez – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1976
The Kahn Intelligence Test, Experimental Form and the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children were administered to three groups of Spanish surname children of varying language dominance to determine if the Kahn test is freer of cultural bias. Results suggest that the tests are not different in their cultural bias. (Author/JKS)

Garfinkel, Robin; Thorndike, Robert L. – Child Development, 1976
This study was conducted to determine how items of the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale, Form L-M, had performed in the 1930's standardization sample in comparison with the 1972 standardization sample. (SB)

Burns, Nicholas R.; Nettelbeck, Ted – Intelligence, 2003
Results of a battery of psychometric and chronometric tests administered to 90 adults show that inspection time (IT) and decision time measured different processes, and that Wechsler performance IQ does not measure fluid ability. Findings suggest that IT does not measure fluid ability, but whether information processing speed is common to all…

Ochieng, Charles O. – International Journal of Testing, 2003
Conducted a meta-analysis of the Kaufman Assessment Battery for Children (K-ABC) to ascertain the numbers of factors in the mental processing subtest of the K-ABC. Analyses yielded sequential and simultaneous processing factors, suggesting that the original K-ABC theory was not supported. (SLD)

Gignac, Gilles; Vernon, Philip A. – Intelligence, 2003
Created an adaptation of the Digit Symbol subtest of the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale, the Digit Symbol Rotation test, and evaluated its "g" loading with 54 adults. Results suggest the Digit Symbol Rotation test has more factorial validity than Digit Symbol, but remains equally easy to administer and score. (SLD)

Der, Geoff; Deary, Ian J. – Intelligence, 2003
Explored the relationship of both simple and four-choice reaction time to scores for the Alice Heim 4 (AH4) test to assess whether correlations previously reported adequately represented the strength of the relationship and to test for departures from linearity. Findings for 900 adolescents and adult show the correlation to be a good summary for…

Miller, Jeffrey A.; Barona, Andres – Adult Basic Education, 1997
Adult students in 4 groups (24 reading disabled, 5 math disabled, 4 reading and math disabled, and 60 nondisabled) completed 2 screening batteries: (1) Wide Range Achievement Test (WRAT) and Barona Premorbid Intelligence Index and (2) WRAT and Kaufman Brief Intelligence Test. Resulting classifications correctly identified approximately 80% as…

Suss, Heinz-Martin; Oberauer, Klaus; Wittman, Werner W. – Intelligence, 2002
Administered a battery of 17 working memory tasks and a test for the Berlin Intelligence Structure Model (1982) to 128 young adults in Germany. General working memory capacity was highly related to general intelligence, and findings also suggest that specific working memory resources, as opposed to a general capacity, are the limiting factors for…

Mahone, E. Mark; Miller, Teresa L.; Koth, Christine W.; Mostofsky, Stewart H.; Goldberg, Melissa C.; Denckla, Martha B. – Psychology in the Schools, 2003
Examines IQ test performance in 122 unmedicated children with ADHD, and 46 children from a healthy, comparison group. Children with ADHD had significantly lower Performance IQ on WISC-III compared to the WISC-R. In contrast, there were no significant differences between the WISC-R and WISC-III cohorts on Performance IQ or any Performance subtests…

Wilhoit, Brian E.; McCallum, R. Steve – School Psychology Review, 2002
A normative typology was developed and applied using multivariate profile analysis of subtest scores of the Universal Nonverbal Intelligence Test (UNIT) standardization sample. The results yielded a seven-profile cluster solution for the Extended Battery, and a six-profile cluster solution for the Standard Battery. Additionally, the results lend…

Gregoire, Jacques – International Journal of Testing, 2001
Standardized the French version of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children, Third Edition (WISC-III) with a standardization sample of 1,120 participants aged 6 to 16 years. A three-factor solution was a better fit than the four-factor solution of the U.S. version. Factors were identified as Verbal Comprehension, Perceptual Organization, and…
