Faschingbauer offered guidelines in selecting MMPI short forms as substitutes for the MMPI. This reviews empirical studies of the clinical validity of MMPI short forms and discusses MMPI-168, not considered in Faschingbauer's earlier article. Empirical evidence favors the Faschingbauer Abbreviated MMPI and the MMPI-168 over others. (Author)

Describes the construction and testing of an instrument to measure kinesthetic perception. The test can be used on the first day of typing class to predict straight-copy typing speed. Three "tests" of intellectual competence (vocabulary, remote associates, trigram word-making) which permit cheating were standardized by rankings of 71 college students. The three tests were found to be equidistant along the dimension of perceived difficulty. Suggestions are made for using these tasks in cheating studies. (Author/SJL)

Discusses the Adapted Modified Role Repertory Test (AMRRT), which was developed to measure cognitive complexity in children. AMRRT scores correlated significantly with age, thus supporting the assumption that cognitive complexity increases as a function of age. This article presents the initial methodology involved in the construction of a self-report instrument of delinquent behavior, as well as the comparison of 10 frequency and seriousness weighting schemes. Reading grade levels were obtained for 11 commonly employed self-report assertion inventories by use of the Flesch Reading Ease Formula. Directions for the inventories ranged from the seventh-grade to college graduate reading grade level. Inventory items were more readable, with scores ranging from the seventh- to the twelfth-grade level. (Author)
