The relative efficacy of content-appropriate, orally administered true/false and multiple-choice testing was examined with retarded adolescents. Both approaches demonstrated utility and psychometric adequacy. Implications regarding test development for retarded students are briefly discussed. (Author)

Rennick, Phillip M.; And Others – Adolescence, 1978
Factor analyses of the WISC, ITPA, and PIAT, revealed that 85 percent of the total variance of these tests can be accounted for by an abbreviated battery of 12 of the 26 subtests. Results indicated a very tight relationship between academic achievement and academic aptitude, even in underachievers. (Author/SJL)

At Georgia Southern College a study of faculty time expended in the master's oral examination in counseling revealed written tests could save 680 faculty hours at the 89 percent success rate (almost 50 hours per year). The oral could be retained as an option for some students. (Author)
