Frary, Robert B.; Hutchinson, T.P. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1982
Alternate versions of Hutchinson's theory were compared, and one which implies the existence of partial knowledge was found to be better than one which implies that an appropriate measure of ability is obtained by applying the conventional correction for guessing. (Author/PN)

Coleman, Laurence J. – G/C/T, 1983
Questions that parents, students, and teachers have frequently asked about the meaning of grade equivalent scores are answered, and implications for gifted students are considered. Facts concerning achievement test scores, content, and the norm group are indicated. (SEW)

Haller, Otto; Edgington, Eugene S. – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1982
Current scoring procedures depend on unrealistic assumptions about subjects' performance on the rod-and-frame test. A procedure is presented which corrects for constant error, is sensitive to response strategy and consistency, and examines qualitative and quantitative aspects of performance and individual differences in laterality bias as defined…

Klein, Alice E. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1981
A factor analysis was performed for two levels of the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills (ITBS). Results showed that there was essentially one common factor with little evidence that the user would gain much nonredundant information from the 15 scores yielded by the ITBS. (Author/GK)

Dye, Carol J. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1982
Performed a factor analysis on the results of the Wechsler Memory Scale for 99 older males to determine how normally aging older adults perform. Results seem to indicate that the manner of functioning in later life becomes deficient in quality rather than in quantitative performance. (Author)

Drosler, Jan – Psychometrika, 1978
A method for incorporating decline over time of the predictive validity of scores into mental test theory is presented. The procedure utilizes concepts from multiple regression and analysis of repeated measures. (JKS)

Two-point and three-point methods of classifying Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) profiles were compared using 174 students who sought psychological treatment at a student mental health clinic and who generated MMPI profiles with scales 2.7, and 8 as their highest evaluations. Wheaton, Peter J.; And Others – Journal of School Psychology, 1980
Higher mean IQ scores were obtained on the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC) compared to the revised version (WISC-R). The WISC-R had a facilitative effect on the WISC that did not appear when the WISC was administered first. Differences in instructions may have enhanced the practice effect. (Author/JAC)
