Walden, Esther R. – Improving College and University Teaching, 1972
Student prepared questions were used in this examination experiment that proved quite beneficial to student learning. (HS)
Descriptors: Educational Experiments, Educational Innovation, Educational Research, Higher Education
Peer reviewedWinters, John J. – American Journal of Mental Deficiency, 1972
Two methods are proposed for analyzing for floor and ceiling effects in test measures when the distribution of the data is binomial. (Author)
Descriptors: Exceptional Child Research, Mental Retardation, Research Methodology, Test Interpretation
Peer reviewedShultz, John L.; Klein, Alice E. – Counselor Education and Supervision, 1972
The initial purpose of this study was to determine how counselors used information yielded by multifactor intelligence tests. Data, however, revealed enormous percentages of nonclassifiable responses regarding these tests. The findings seemed to indicate a tendency on the part of counselor educators to downgrade the importance of accurate test…

Peer reviewedFair, Dennis T.; Birch, Jack W. – Exceptional Children, 1971
Descriptors: Exceptional Child Research, Leisure Time, Physical Disabilities, Test Interpretation
Rose, Harriet A.; Elton, Charles F. – Journal of College Student Personnel, 1971
The authors discuss the advisability of making orientation test batteries voluntary. Though students are opposed to compulsory testing, the authors argue that the information gained from them is important to the educational process. (CG)

Peer reviewedCox, Richard C.; Sterrett, Barbara G. – Journal of Educational Measurement, 1970
A method for obtaining criterion-references information from standardized tests is proposed. (TA)

Descriptors: Blindness, Exceptional Child Research, Intelligence Tests, Profiles
Peer reviewedHaller, Otto; Edgington, Eugene S. – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1982
Rod-and-frame test data of undergraduates were subjected to pattern analysis, which showed that most tilt toward the spatial position of the frame, while some utilize two frame cues, i.e., the nearest to vertical side and corner of the frame. Other interpretations of performance were not supported by results. (Author/RD)
Descriptors: Cognitive Measurement, Cognitive Style, Higher Education, Scoring
Peer reviewedHills, John R. – Educational Measurement: Issues and Practice, 1983
Percentile scores appear to be the easiest standardized test scores for parents to understand. Yet in this true-false test, Hills reveals commonly held misconceptions about percentile score reports. (LC)
Descriptors: Comparative Testing, Norm Referenced Tests, Scores, Standardized Tests
Peer reviewedHaller, Otto; Edgington, Eugene S. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1983
A general method for identifying the separate components of the Rod-and-Frame Test consists of correlating theoretical patterns of scores with obtained test scores of single subjects. The correlation test calculates probability values from the test data. In this way, fit can be determined between theoretical pattern and test scores. (Author/BW)
Descriptors: Cognitive Style, Correlation, Goodness of Fit, Hypothesis Testing
Peer reviewedMuthen, Bengt; Christoffersson, Anders – Psychometrika, 1981
A new method is proposed for a simultaneous factor analysis of dichotomous responses from several groups of individuals. The method makes it possible to compare factor loading pattern, factor variances and covariances, and factor means over groups. Generalized least squares is used as the estimation procedure. (Author/JKS)
Descriptors: Data Analysis, Factor Analysis, Goodness of Fit, Hypothesis Testing
