The Effect of Mandala Design Training on Perceptual Skills of Children with Specific Learning Disorder
Psychology in the Schools, v62 n10 p4207-4220 2025
The aim of this study was to examine the effects of mandala design training on the sensory, cognitive, and emotional perception skills of 8-10-year-old children with specific learning disorder. The study had a randomized-controlled design and was conducted in an experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group. The sample consisted of 28 people who were determined by the purposeful sampling method. Nonstructured mandala studies were conducted with the children for 12 sessions. The Personal Information Form and Perceptual Skills Scale were used to collect the data for the study. When the growth-development between the posttest and pretest scores of the groups was examined, it was found that the performance gain scores differed significantly in all perception areas (p < 0.01). According to Cohen's d analyses, mandala design training was highly effective in the Sensory and Cognitive Perception subdimensions of children who were diagnosed with SLD and moderately effective in the Emotional Perception subdimensions.
