The essay challenges the quality of the USAR officer educational program. Decreases in numbers of personnel in the Active Army emphasize the need for an improved Army Reserve, which will require changes in the educational program. Reasons are explored for improving the program, and its history, present status, weaknesses and strengths are discussed. Suggested changes in the curricula of the various courses are presented.
