Developed for educators in a rural North Dakota community school, this booklet provides a social studies scope and sequence of skills for students in grades K-12. Following a statement of educational philosophy and a list of district goals, the document presents a grade by grade breakdown of social studies objectives. For each grade, focus of study, topics, and concepts are accompanied by a breakdown of skill objectives: (1) basic/study skills, (2) critical/creative thinking skills, and (3) social participation/interpersonal skills. A sequence of skills is provided for a variety of social studies courses including general social studies (K-6), American history (grade 7), world geography (grade 8), North Dakota history (grade 8), American government (grade 12), geography (grades 10-12), psychology (elective, grades 10-12), sociology (elective, grades 11-12), U.S. history (grades 10-12), contemporary issues (elective, grades 10-12), world history (grades 10-12), Metchif history (grades 10-12), North American Indians (grades 10-12), the American Indian Today (grades 10-12), anthropology (grades 10-12), and basic economics (elective, grades 9-12).
