Institutions of higher education ultimately aim to deliver a quality education to students and help their students succeed while at their institution, and beyond. However, despite the emphasis academic administrators place on student success, the foundational elements of running an institution--academic operations--are often overlooked. While other units on campus are standing up new initiatives, academic operations at many institutions continue to be run with manual, disparate processes that impact students. Student experience suffers when these processes aren't optimized for their needs, and better tech to support administrators now exists. Achieving academic operational excellence can break down barriers to opportunities for students. This survey sheds light on the state of academic operations so that institutions can evaluate where their academic processes can be improved to enable students to succeed.
