Information solicited from 22 states and territories shows that: (1) America's secondary schools offer relatively little that theoreticians would consider to be true multiethnic/multicultural education; and (2) State departments of education exercise little influence in that area. Most existing multicultural education attempts to redress racial injustices and prejudice. (PP)
