Follman, J. C.; And Others – Res Teach Engl, 1970
Concludes that the quality of grades assigned a theme is little . . . affected by typeface or by devoting one or two minutes to the reading, but . . . a theme graded later tends to be rated more leniently than a theme graded earlier." (Editor)

Flapan, Dorothy; Neubauer, Peter B. – Journal of the American Academy of Child Psychiatry, 1970
Among the issues considered are: the conceptualization of health; the problems of validity and reliability; the prediction of developmental progression and postdiction: the role of symptoms: the determination of developmental influence and the definition of variations in development. A shorter version of this paper was presented to the American…

Ebel, Robert L. – J Eng Educ, 1970
A good test used to measure student's knowledge and abilities is useful educationally even if it does not teach directly. Article based on address at American Society for Engineering Education's North Midwest Section Effective Teaching Institute, March 1969. (IR)
Descriptors: Achievement Tests, Higher Education, Test Reliability, Testing Problems
Berger, Richard A.; Medlin, Robert L. – Res Quart AAHPER, 1969
This study was submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the M.Ed. degree at Texas Technological College under the supervision of R.A. Berger, 1968.

Peer reviewedWatson, Betty U. – Journal of Speech and Hearing Disorders, 1983
The test-retest stability of the Hiskey-Nebraska Test of Learning Aptitude (H-NTLA) was examined in a group of 43 hearing impaired children and adolescents. Test-retest correlations for Ss retested after approximately one year, three years, and five years were .79, .85, and .62 respectively. (Author)
Descriptors: Academic Aptitude, Elementary Secondary Education, Hearing Impairments, Test Reliability
Peer reviewedHall, C. G. W.; Daglish, N. D. – Assessment and Evaluation in Higher Education, 1982
An exploratory study of the effects of essay length on scoring reliability is presented. While results fail to confirm statistically a length effect that is either overall or in individual scorers, it is suggested that such an effect may emerge in a larger sample. Further research is suggested on the effects of length and grade level on marking.…

Peer reviewedZimmerman, Donald W.; Williams, Richard H. – Journal of Educational Measurement, 1982
The reliability of differences between pretest and posttest measures with intervening experimental treatment can be highly reliable under some conditions. If the error components of pretest and posttest measures are correlated, the classical formula for the reliability of differences underestimates the actual reliability of gains. (Author/CM)

Bruininks-Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency: Further Verification with 3- to 5- yr. -old Children.
Peer reviewedBeitel, Patricia A.; Mead, Barbara J. – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1982
The Bruininks-Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency was evaluated to determine test-retest reliability and if there were presensitizing effects at retest for four- to five-year olds. Test reliability was significantly high. No significant test sensitization of the short form to retesting with the short form or subtests was found. (Author/RD)
Descriptors: Early Childhood Education, Motor Development, Test Reliability, Testing Problems
Peer reviewedHuynh, Huynh – Journal of Educational Statistics, 1982
Two indices for assessing the efficiency of decisions in mastery testing are proposed. The indices are generalizations of the raw agreement index and the kappa index. Empirical examples of these indices are given. (Author/JKS)
Descriptors: Criterion Referenced Tests, Cutting Scores, Mastery Tests, Test Reliability
