Peer reviewedPohlmann, John T.; Moore, James F. – Multiple Linear Regression Viewpoints, 1977
A technique is presented which applies the Neyman theory of confidence intervals to interval estimation of the squared multiple correlation coefficient. A computer program is presented which can be used to apply the technique. (Author/JKS)
Descriptors: Computer Programs, Correlation, Hypothesis Testing, Multiple Regression Analysis
Safrit, Margaret J.; And Others – Research Quarterly, 1977
The average ball velocity in an overarm throw was significantly higher in a gymnasium than in a laboratory. (MB)
Descriptors: Athletics, Environmental Influences, Performance Factors, Testing Programs
Peer reviewedFranklin, A. J. – Negro Educational Review, 1977
Five guidelines to be used when testing black students are: (1) know the goals of testing, (2) select appropriate tests, (3) gain competency in test administration and interpretation, (4) be aware of contextual and situational factors in learning, and (5) evaluate non-test variables. (Author/AM)
Descriptors: Blacks, Educational Assessment, Guidelines, Racial Factors
Peer reviewedCrano, William D. – Child Development, 1977
This investigation challenged the causal relationship implicit in the search for behavioral predictors in infancy of later intellectual ability and demonstrated the primacy of infant mental scale scores in the causation of later, more concrete physical behaviors. (Author/JMB)
Descriptors: Infant Behavior, Infants, Intelligence, Predictive Validity
Peer reviewedHunt, Jane V.; Rhodes, Leanne – Child Development, 1977
Developmental rates and standard scores are examined for 56 infants in four gestational age groups by repeated measurements on the mental scale of the Bayley Scales of Infant Development. (Author/JMB)
Descriptors: Cognitive Development, Infants, Models, Premature Infants
Peer reviewedNottelmann, Editha D.; Hill, Kennedy T. – Child Development, 1977
Forty-eight fourth- and fifth-grade boys and girls designated as low-, middle-, or high-anxious performed anagram tasks in the presence of an experimenter also working on anagrams. Results showed that high-anxious children had the lowest performance scores and exhibited substantially more off-task glancing than low- and middle-anxious children.…

Wood, R. – Programmed Learning and Educational Technology, 1976
Descriptors: Adaptive Testing, Bayesian Statistics, Intelligence Tests, Test Construction
Peer reviewedKrishnaiah, P. R. – Journal of Multivariate Analysis, 1976
In this paper, the author gives a review of the literature on complex multivariate distributions. Some new results on these distributions are also given. Finally, the author discusses the applications of the complex multivariate distributions in the area of the inference on multiple time series. (Author)
Descriptors: Difficulty Level, Hypothesis Testing, Matrices, Probability
Peer reviewedVenables, W. – Journal of Multivariate Analysis, 1976
Recent results of Bloomfield and Watson and Knott are used to derive a class of union-intersection tests for sphericity from likelihood ratio tests of independence of two sets of variates. It is shown that the ordinary likelihood ratio test for sphericity has a natural union-intersection interpretation. (Author/RC)
Descriptors: Correlation, Hypothesis Testing, Matrices, Orthogonal Rotation
Davis, Robbie G. – Educational Technology, 1977
Descriptors: Curriculum Development, Functional Literacy, Literacy, Literacy Education
Peer reviewedVarnes, Jill W.; Chen, W. William – Journal of School Health, 1988
The Florida Association of Professional Health Educators' process for developing a registration and certification system for professional health educators in Florida included forming a planning committee; determining initial registration requirements; formulationg record-keeping procedures and fee structures; developing implementation and…

Peer reviewedCarvajal, Howard; And Others – Psychology in the Schools, 1988
A kindergarten class of nine boys and 11 girls took the 1986 Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale (Fourth Edition) and the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence. Of six correlations of total scores and subtests pairs, only the correlation of total scores was statistically significant. (Author)
Descriptors: Comparative Testing, Intelligence Tests, Kindergarten Children, Primary Education
Peer reviewedCamilli, Gregory; Shephard, Lorrie A. – Journal of Educational Statistics, 1987
Previous arguments against the use of Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) to determine test bias are extended. Explains why ANOVA may obscure test bias when it exists and also create a false impression of bias when it does not exist. (RB)
Descriptors: Analysis of Variance, Statistical Analysis, Test Bias, Testing
Peer reviewedNevo, B.; Oren, C. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1986
Concurrent validity of the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and the Israeli Inter-University Psychometric Entrance Test (IUPRT) was supported by a high level of correlation, including a correlation of .85 between SAT and IUPET total scores. Transformation equations were presented to estimate performance on one test from the other. (Author/LMO)
Descriptors: College Entrance Examinations, Comparative Testing, Correlation, Higher Education
Peer reviewedClinton, Bill – Teacher Education Quarterly, 1986
In this article the Governor of Arkansas discusses the importance of the Arkansas Educational Skills Assessment Test which all Arkansas teachers must pass. (Author/MT)
