The author contends that values and other behavioral variables have never been critical components of curriculum building models. It was found that brain damaged children were more active in structured situations and more distractibile than control group children. These findings pointed to a deficiency in control mechanisms. Seventy-two second-, third-, and fourth- grade girls were exposed to a video-taped adult model who practiced and/or preached generosity or selfishness. The effect of the model's practices upon Ss donation behavior was marginally significant, but donation behavior was unaffected by either the power or the exhortations of the model. (WY)

This analysis of social survey reports and other data points to the conclusion that the public tends to declare negative valuations on persons diagnosed as mentally ill.
