Heiby, Elaine M. – Psychological Assessment, 1995
This second article of the special section on chaos theory addresses implications of the definition of chaotic behavior for its measurement. The requirements to test the presence of chaotic relations among variables are in agreement with the conceptual and methodological hallmarks of behavioral assessment. (SLD)

McDermott, Paul A.; Weiss, Richard V. – Psychological Assessment, 1995
An empirical typology of behavior styles was developed to define distinct variations of healthy, marginal, at-risk, and maladjusted behavior using a stratified national sample of 1,400 youths aged 5 to 17 years. Results are compared with recent epidemiological studies, and application of the typology is demonstrated. (SLD)

Sisson, L. A. – Journal of Visual Impairment and Blindness, 1992
A new approach to behavioral control with individuals having both visual impairments and multiple disabilities stresses the use of positive intervention strategies, bases treatment on functional assessments of challenging responses, and emphasizes broad changes in the lifestyles of individuals. Case examples illustrate applications. (Author/DB)
Descriptors: Behavior Change, Behavior Patterns, Behavior Problems, Case Studies

Jackson, Mary S. – Journal of Alcohol and Drug Education, 1992
Examined drug use patterns among incarcerated African-American juvenile delinquents (n=248). Alcohol use tended to precede by about five months use of…

Henkel, Thomas George; Wilmoth, James Noel – Journal of Experimental Education, 1992
Principal components extraction with orthogonal and oblique rotations tested the construct validity of the Personal Profile System (PPS) using data from 1,045 senior noncommissioned Air Force officers. Four factors accounted for 85 percent of the total variance, but the results do not completely justify publisher claims for the PPS. (SLD)

Anderson, Charles G. – ERS Spectrum, 1992
A survey soliciting school board members' and administrators' views on effective and ineffective board behaviors showed that both groups valued board members' ability to distinguish between policy and administration, willingness to ensure policy recommendation opportunities for superintendents, insistence on policies sensitive to broad public…

Pedlow, Robert; And Others – Developmental Psychology, 1993

Observed rough-and-tumble play in young adolescent boys on the playground. Lysak, Bob; Lee, Brian – Executive Educator, 1991
Pulling up stakes is seldom the best way to handle difficult people at work, because they exist everywhere as bullies, "yes" people, whiners, nonentities, know-it-alls, or "no" people. This article examines these six personality types and tells how administrators can avoid being victimized. (MLH)

March, James G.; Shapira, Zur – Psychological Review, 1992
Random-walk conceptions of performance, aspirations, and risk preferences are used to model a pattern of risk taking responsive to a risk taker's changing fortune.
