In general, this study found that the validity of single MMPI scales for predicting psychiatric symptoms was too low to be clinically useful for predictions about the individual case. The psychotic scales were particularly lacking in validity. The validity data for all scales is given. (Author/CG)

It successfully measures general linguistic ability and intelligence, and to a limited extent it successfully measures aspects of cognitive ability. Results were quite similar for each of the factor analytic procedures, an indication of a strong underlying structure of the WPPSI tests. Regardless of the factor analytic technique used, two factors appeared--one clearly verbal and the other clearly performance--at each of the three age levels. (Authors)
