Pannone, Ronald D. – Personnel Psychology, 1984
Examined the validity of a rationally developed biographical questionnaire for predicting content valid test performance for electrician applicants (N=221). Results showed that the utility of the questionnaire in screening applicant populations was both statistically and practically significant. (LLL)

White, Arden – Counselor Education and Supervision, 1983
Factor analyzed the Counseling Orientation Preference Scale (COS) to investigate its validity. Data from 686 students and two previous samples suggested items were not identified cleanly with the a priori placements used in the original construction. Two major cluster groupings were found, suggesting some support for validity. (Author/JAC)

Provided preliminary information on the utility of five standardized psychological inventories for assessment of Vietnam veterans (N=36) with Posttraumatic Stress Disorders (PTSD). Analyses indicated that the assessment battery was able to discriminate Vietnam combat veterans with PTSD from relevant comparison groups. (LLL)

Tested the validity of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) with accused murderers (N=96) undergoing pre-trial evaluations. Results indicated four predictors of MMPI elevated scores: low intelligence, history of drug abuse, suspiciousness observed on the ward, and the fact that the accused was a stranger to the victim. The purpose of this study was to determine the concurrent validity of the Learning Ability Profile (LAP) by correlating the results obtained on the LAP with grade point average (GPA). Scores on LAP, both weighted and nonweighted, were correlated .30 and .31, respectively, with GPA. (Author/BW)

The Locus of Control Inventory for the Deaf (LCID), consisting of a 23-item Likert-like scale, and two commonly used scales to assess locus of control in hearing persons were administered to 174 deaf freshman students. Intercorrelation findings demonstrated greater soundness of the LCID as compared with the other scales. (Author)
